A traditional grill has grates, so what you're cooking is over a flame. Griddle-style grills have a flat surface over the flame, so you can cook things like bacon, pancakes, etc...
Unless you really like how food tastes on charcoal grills, you'll probably want a propane grill. It'll be a whole lot easier to setup and cleanup. Typically you'll use the 1lb propane tanks you can find at any store, but you can also hook it up to an RV propane tank
Any grill you get for camping will probably be smaller than what you might have had at home, since you have to move it around often, but the sizes still vary. If you don't have much storage space, you're probably going to want a smaller grill
