We came here in the middle of June and it’s packed, but super beautiful. Very clean and still a couple spots to wedge yourself in!! Very clean and even a couple bars of ATT.
Very nice campsite right off Highway 550 just passed Silverton Colorado. It’s a bit crowded I’d say 20 rigs in here. However everybody is quiet and respectful, and you can definitely have privacy and spacing. I like it much better than the sultan Anvil campsites. A few mosquitoes at night but not bad. Very shady and areas except along the River front.. Camped here August 10th through the 12th, 2021
This is a very nice campground next to the creek. The last review said it wasn’t full, but this time of the year it was packed with RVs and generators (not shown in picture). However, we were able to find a nice spot in the trees with our van around 4pm. The water is a bit too swift for fishing, but it’s still beautiful! One pit toilet and no trash-so pack it out!
Lots of room and we were here 10/31 and only one other camper in sight! We got a perfect spot right next to the stream and loved watching sunsets and exploring the frosty waters edge in the morning. Such a beautiful and serene area this time of year. We stayed 2 nights and didn’t want to leave.
There is enough room for a few rigs to pull up right next to the river , or else there is spaces in the trees if you want more privacy / shade. There is a vault toilet but it was locked for the winter in October. There is another free campsite about a half mile down road and another a couple more after that. At the very end of the dirt road there is a trail head , the trail is to ice lake (pictured) and is hard but very rewarding. We camped here three nights and the first night on a Thursday was the busiest , then continued to get quieter through the weekend.
I love this place, it is far enough off the highway to keep the crowds down but still relatively easy to access. A wide variety of campsites with a few right on the creek. Bring warm gear, at near 10,000 ft it tends to get chilly at night. Incredible hiking nearby and if you follow your ears, you can hit some amazing waterfalls
