Worth a visit if you're in the area

Pulled in on a Wednesday evening and there were a few people camped out in the first couple spots...not a problem as it's a big area with plenty of sites to go around. You shouldn't "need" 4wd at any point, but the paths to some of the more secluded sites are better suited for vehicles with a bit of ground clearance. Lovely place overall, it's hard to believe stuff like this is free sometimes.

Nice place quiet.

Stayed last night. 6/6/21 10 out of 10 would recommend. Go slow on the roads you should be ok.

Great spot!

Beautiful nature spot that feels tucked away even though it’s close to the highway. If you go in one of the first places to pull out you can still hear a little highway noise but it isn’t a very busy highway at all and you can barely hear it if you go further back. Woke up to lovely birdsong and felt pretty safe traveling solo here. Saw about three other cars parked in the area but there’s enough room for it to feel pretty private. My Honda Element could make it on the road no problem just go slow and avoid the bumps :)

Beautiful!

Beautiful campsite! Very quiet, peaceful, and private. Only 1 other camper on the grounds, that we saw. Definitely will be back! The road pulling into the campsite was a bit rough, but the main roads are good!

However if you have a trailer/camper without trailer breaks, going back down the mountain can be a little dangerous! It didn't feel that steep going up, but coming back down was a different story.

very quiet and beautiful

very slight amount of road noise as it is right off 38, but absolutely beautiful and very isolated. We came when no one else was there and only saw a few other cars, but campsites are dispersed enough we would have barely seen anyone who was camping there anyway. However, no fires are allowed (at least when we were here), so unless you have another way to cook food and stay warm that’s something to think about.

nice big open space

beautiful big open campground 30 min from Big Bear lake, a lot of space, even for busy holidays you can find campsites, a lot of shade and little bit of dust from atv. 5 min with car and u can enjoy beautiful creek and Santa Ana creek trail. only con is people don't respect campground rules when it comes to man maid noise. dirt road but even fifth wheels make it. so I don't think is a problem with any kind of vehicle to come and enjoy this beautiful campground

Wonderful

Awesome place. Lots of site options. Just the normal fly population and the powdery dirt. Close to some great trail hikes.

peaceful oasis

Right off highway 38, quite road leading into forest terrain. Drive in with a honda hatchback no problem. You can barely hear traffic noise. The campground is clean and very spacious... lots of room for any camp set up. No ranger no fee. Lots of pine trees providing nice shade and sun gets through so you can see a nice sunset. Only downside is you can’t have a fire here.

Right off the main highway, but you'd never know it

Great location, and it's free. If you look for them, there's a few spots that you wouldn't even know are there. Nice and quite and is open when the road to the Coon Creek Yellow Post Sites is closed. Highly recommend.
